But honestly, after my visit to Pakistan, I can tell you we have been so unfair to Pakistan. We let the media control our thoughts, making Pakistan an unusual travel destination. But did you know that Pakistan has been listed as one of the best countries to travel to in 2024? And that’s not all. Pakistan is increasing in popularity more and more. With its beautiful mountains, authentic culture, delicious food, friendly people, and amazing hospitality, there is no better time to visit the country than now.

Why you should visit Lahore?

Lahore is the historic cultural center of the Punjab province of Pakistan. The city is full of beautiful architecture from colonial times, interesting museums, vibrant bazaars and markets, chaotic but fascinating city traffic, and you will find plenty of things to do. If you are planning to visit Pakistan, Lahore MUST be one of the cities on your list.

Should I explore it alone or do you recommend a group trip?

Please note that I visited Pakistan on a group trip—which I totally recommend. It was easier to move around the city and around the country! Not to mention, the food and local flights to the north of Pakistan were included, along with very friendly and experienced guides who will make your travel more interesting and will answer all your questions.

The following list is based on my experience and wheter you go alone or in a group trip make sure you include as much activitieas as you can!

  1. Visit the Wagah Border
    A MUST DO ACTIVITY IN LAHORE. Witness the Wagah Border Ceremony, a daily military practice that is full of pomp and pageantry. It’s a unique experience showcasing the patriotism of both Pakistan and India.
  2. Try to Make Naan
    Experience the local food culture by learning to make naan, a staple in Pakistani cuisine. This hands-on activity is both fun and delicious.
  3. Jump on a Tuk Tuk
    For a true local experience, hop on a tuk tuk and zip through the bustling streets of Lahore. It’s a fun and exciting way to see the city and get around like a local
  4. Walk Around the Market at Delhi Gate
    The bustling market at Delhi Gate is a vibrant spot to experience the local culture. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells as you wander through the lively bazaar. Tip: buy a traditional shalwar kameez that usually comes with a dupatta (a long scarf).
  5. Truck Art Session
    Participate in a truck art session to understand this colorful and vibrant form of Pakistani art. You can even create your own piece to take home as a souvenir.   6. Visit Badshahi Mosque
    The Badshahi Mosque is an architectural marvel and one of the largest mosques in the world. Don’t miss the chance to admire its stunning Mughal architecture. *Tip: bring an extra pair of socks or wipes to keep your feet clean.
  7. Eat Like a Local
    Lahore is famous for its street food. Try the local delicacies and savor the rich flavors of Pakistani cuisine.

It’s a breathtaking experience, as if you’re part of a scene from a captivating movie, where the sun seems larger than life and its golden hues softly touch the city of Lahore. I stayed at Four Points By Sheraton, and gosh, I still close my eyes and dream of those days after a long  6 months of winter in Finland.
