If you’re planning your winter holidays in Finland, Santa Park in Rovaniemi is a favorite for many families who love Christmas. It may not be a must for everyone, but if you have kids, some extra time, and it’s in your budget, it can be a fun and memorable experience!. Open from November to January, Santa Park captures the essence of the season with activities that bring the magic of Christmas to life. Whether you’re a parent, a traveler, or simply a lover of the festive season, this park has something for everyone.
Why Santa Park is a ‘Must’-Visit in Rovaniemi
When you search for ‘things to do with kids in Rovaniemi’, Santa Park is one of the top recommendations, right after Santa Claus Village. It’s also one of the most-searched activities in Finland for winter holidays. Located just 2.3 km from Santa Claus Village, Santa Park is conveniently close, making it easy to combine both attractions in one trip. Plus, since it’s indoors, you won’t have to worry about the cold—making it perfect for families with kids.
Should Santa Park Be on Your Finland Winter Itinerary?
To be completely honest, you coul also skip Santa Park if you feel like you’ll get similar experiences at your hotel or Santa Claus Village. For example, you can visit Santa Claus at the Santa Claus Office, decorate gingerbread, take pictures with Mrs. Claus, and meet elves, either in the Santa ClausVillage or at many hotels. Of course, you’ll miss out on the Elf Show and the Magic Train, but you could easily replace those with a husky ride or a snowmobile adventure in the winter wonderland!
Why am I sharing this?
So you can make a more informed decision about whether or not to visit. If you’re struggling with the cold, then Santa Park—being indoors—is definitely the place to go! I visit Lapland and Rovaniemi every winter, and while my kids have been NOT to Santa Park YET, the last time I visited was in 2023 with a friend who is a Christmas enthusiast. It was fun and lovely to see her enjoy it so much! However, we visit the Santa Claus Office every autumn and sometimes during the summer, and because winter is the peak tourist season, we usually avoid Rovaniemi during the Christmas holidays—unless I have work or new places to explore and share with you on my social media channels- like this post!.
