All You Need to Know Before Visiting LEGOLAND Germany 🧱

🇩🇪 Why We Chose LEGOLAND Germany

Yes — we didn’t visit the original LEGOLAND in Billund, Denmark! Instead, we explored LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort, located in Günzburg, Bavaria. It turned out to be the perfect stop between Switzerland and Munich — no extra flights needed!

Only 1.5 hours from Munich by car or train, LEGOLAND Germany is a dream for LEGO fans of all ages. Whether you’re a family, a couple, or just a kid-at-heart, this colorful LEGO world is packed with fun and surprises.

We visited in early June 2025, and spoiler alert: it exceeded our expectations in every way.

💙 Our LEGOLAND Experience

We (2 adults + 2 kids aged 6 and 8) left Munich early and reached the park around 9:20 AM. It was a bank holiday — Munich station had food available, but Günzburg which is a small station was completely closed (not even bathrooms!).

After a short wait, we found the shuttle bus and headed to LEGOLAND just in time for opening. I mean, we walked from the buss stop, we took some picture with the Legoland sign and it was the opening time already!

Pro tip: buy tickets online and save them on your phone for faster entry.

We brought our backpacks (full of clothes, snacks, bottle of water) and used LEGOLAND’s lockers (€7 large / €5 small) — very handy since we stayed overnight.

Good to know:
You can bring your own food, snacks and drinks. Water refill stations are also available inside the park or buy it in place!

🚗 How to Get to LEGOLAND Germany

By Car:
Drive from Munich or Stuttgart in about 1.5 hours. Paid parking available at the park entrance.

By Train + Shuttle:

    • Take a regional train to Günzburg
    • From Günzburg station, take the LEGOLAND shuttle bus (every 20 minutes, ~10–15 minutes ride)

💡 Pro Tip: Book train tickets via Omio — it’s easier and more foreigner-friendly than using German apps.

⚠️ Station staff may not speak English, and signage is limited. Be patient and trust the shuttle schedule!

🚨LEGOLAND’s website suggests buying a train ticket that includes the shuttle bus, but honestly? We couldn’t find such an option anywhere. So we just bought a regular train ticket to Günzburg, thinking: “Worst case, we’ll grab info on arrival or take a taxi.”

Here’s what actually happened:

    • At Günzburg station there were no big signs, no staff guiding people, and very little English spoken.
    • Luckily, families with kids started gathering in the same spot — our best clue we were in the right place.
    • Eventually, we spotted a small sign for LEGOLAND near a bus stop.
    • The shuttle bus arrived, and the driver didn’t speak English, but he gave us thumbs up when we said “LEGOLAND” and again for “Resort.” Simple but effective!
    • After ~10 minutes, he pointed us out at the main entrance. Success! 🙌

Once inside, we headed straight to the lockers (large €7, small €5 — worth it if you have backpacks or overnight bags). At the end of the day, we returned to the same bus stop and easily caught the shuttle to the Holiday Village Resort.

🎢 Our Top Attractions

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Land

Far this was our FAVORITE RIDE! Kids simply LOVE IT! A place were kids and adults have fun! Water rides, boats, and water cannons! Bring extra clothes or Crocs. Dryers available (paid), but getting wet is half the fun.

🧱 LEGO Factory

See how LEGO bricks are made! You even get an exclusive LEGO piece. We spent over €90 here getting unique pieces — totally worth it when my son hugged me in tears of joy 🥹.

👕 Build Your Own Mini-Figure

Custom figures starting at €2.99. Ours cost €32 for 6 figures. Yes, we did buy extra pieces!
🧾 Check your bag before leaving — sadly, we had one missing and are awaiting a response.

🥷 LEGO Ninjago World

Interactive 4D ride using hand gestures — kids loved it also!
🔧 Tip: Keep hands ~20cm above the sensor to score points.

🏙️ Miniland

Famous European cities in miniature LEGO — Berlin, Venice, Frankfurt, and the Allianz Arena. Kids can press buttons to activate parts of the displays.

🎢 Coasters

Great for thrill-seekers, but not all are kid-friendly. We skipped Fire Dragon and Flying Ninjago due to height/adrenaline levels.

Also let’s remember kids are different and not all are willing to ride all the rides! So in this case, is good idea to have 2 adults if you are travelling with more than one kid, so you can split!

🌸 LEGO Festival Points

Collect stamps, create LEGO flowers, and win prizes! Sad part: kids had to return their builds. Still fun, but worth managing expectations.

🍕 Food & Facilities

You will find plenty of places to eat around the park, pizzas, hotdogs, coffee, snacks, fresh fruit so, no worries about food, Legoland has you cover!

    • Pizza ~€12
    • Dutch hotdog ~€7
    • Coffee ~€4.50
    • ✅ You can bring your own food
    • ✅ Clean bathrooms + baby changing rooms

Ahh and the breakfast buffet at the resort? Amazing!!!

🏨 Where to Stay: LEGOLAND Holiday Village

We stayed in a Pirate Room (Ninjago was sold out, we were not into Castles one). Themed rooms, treasure hunts, and bunk beds shaped like boats — what more could you want?

To be honest at the beggining I thought of staying at the Ninjago Rooms, but the Pirate Room was unbelivable! We saw from the distance the Ninjago play area and I dare to say that I was happy WE STAYED IN THE PIRATE AREA! The Pirate boat is amazing! It a masive Pirate Boat and it just make the atmosphere so unreal!

Highlights:

    • Breakfast included
    • Treasure  huntgame: you get unique brick of you stay at Legoland
    • LEGO boxes + TV in-room
    • Pirate ship playground
    • Bandanas at the Pirate Restaurant
    • Mini fridge + coffee/tea
    • Shop with exclusive LEGO sets
    • On-site activities: zipline, bowling (extra cost)
    • The feeling  of seeing you kids smiling and havinf the best time of the life will make you forget the money spent here and probably make you start planning the next visit!

💡 Tip: Stay at least 2 nights to enjoy both the park and the resort. One night felt too short!

🤔 Is LEGOLAND Germany Worth It?

YES. Totally.

LEGOLAND in Günzburg gave us more than just fun — it gave us memories. My boys called it “the best trip ever”, and honestly? I agree.

Even though I was visiting on crutches, I still managed to enjoy the park and keep up with the kids. And when I let them go wild choosing pieces at the LEGO Fabrik shop, I officially earned the title of SUPER MOM 🦸‍♀️.

But here’s the truth: it wasn’t about the money spent or the extra LEGO sets. What mattered most was the experience, the laughter, and the pure joy on their faces. That’s what I’ll always remember.

✅ Pros:

    • Fun for kids aged 3–12
    • Water refill stations
    • Lockers, food options, clean toilets
    • LEGO-themed joy everywhere
    • Great organization and family-friendliness

❌ Cons:

    • Rides close 1 hour before park closing
    • Long lines during peak times
    • Fast Track varies by ride
    • Disabled access requires extra stepsm
      • To get the special wristband, you need to show a disability card or medical proof. At first, this can feel like a hassle, but it also ensures that the system is fair and that people don’t abuse the service by pretending to have a disability.
    • Info about shuttles/tickets could be clearer
    • Staff lack if English skills, but travellers can always find the way to communicate so you will survive

💬 FAQs (Q&A)

Q: How much time do you need at LEGOLAND Germany?

A: Around 6–10 years old is ideal. Younger kids enjoy it, but older ones love the rides and activities more.

Q: Is it better than LEGOLAND Billund?
A: We haven’t been to Billund yet, but LEGOLAND Germany was surprisingly big, well-organized, and magical. And you can spend sometime in Munich as well, so adults and kids have fun and is a win-win for everyone in the family!
